Generally menopause is a stage that causing some degree of anxiety in almost every woman’s life. Throughout the world, most women complain of mood swings, hormonal issues and depressive attitude post a menopause. Menopause means a condition among women when their menstrual cycles stop over a time-period of 12 months.

Perimenopause is the phase which leads up to menopause. The phase in which your last period occurs and lasting for a complete year. Your estrogen level begins to decline during perimenopause and either subtle or no-so subtle symptoms begin.

Menopause Symptoms:

1. Weight Gain: Weight gain is probably one of the most complained about symptoms of menopause is weight gain. If you are gaining weight during this time of your life, don’t blame yourself. This is something that happens to about 90% of women during menopause. Some will gain more than others. Most women will gain 10 to 15 pounds during their menopausal years. That is approximately 1 pound per year.

2. Hot Flashes: The next menopause symptom is hot flashes. Hot flashes are very common during menopause. A hot flash is a brief feeling of heat that may make the face and neck flushed, cause temporary red blotches to appear on the chest, back and arms. Sweating and chills may follow. Hot flashes vary in intensity and typically last between 30 seconds and 10 minutes.

3. Sleep Pattern Changes: Women who are going through menopause often say that one of the hardest symptoms to get used to is losing their ability to sleep through the night. If you have gotten used to sleeping all the way through the night and are suddenly having problems falling and staying asleep it’s possible that you could be going through menopause.

4. Menstrual Cycle Changes: Menstrual cycle changes is one of the first signs but usually ignored. Women begin noticing shortened, lengthened menstrual cycles or missed cycles. Many women ignore this as they do not correlate it as a symptoms or sign of early menopause. Women should not ignore the possibility of pregnancy as it can be an option.
